Our Paradise: Herrington Lake

This "hidden gem" created nearly a century ago, Herrington Lake reached a seasonal pool for the first time in the spring of 1925. Herrington Lake is the deepest lake in Kentucky, at 239 feet. It was created by the Kentucky Utilities damming of the Dix River, a tributary of the Kentucky River. Very little timber was cut from the lake bed and when the gates of Dix Dam were closed, an immense, forested valley was flooded creating this beautiful spot in central Kentucky.

Since then families, businesses and the surrounding communities have quietly flourished on this lake. Most of the residents of the area grew up here! The lake provided not only a fun playground, but a shared sense of community for the families of this small paradise in Central Kentucky.

Herrington Lake is our home and we love her. We want to see our communities and families not only continue this generational growth - but share it with others visiting this very special area of rural Kentucky that we call "home".

OUR MISSION

As we begin this new year we want to continue to work with our local communities and bring both our visitors AND residents more information that they will enjoy and find valuable, such as community information, local history and partnerships with local businesses to help increase the visibility of our local offerings. We want to bring you the best digital resources for this area - as well as some beautiful local photography, fun custom lake-vibe clothes, and general info about our home here in Kentucky — and quite frankly, sharing some of my mom's recipes (and soliciting some of my own!)
