At Herrington Lake, we're more than just neighbors – we're a community. And when every second counts, we want to empower our community to act fast. That's why we're going to introduce Herrington Lake BOLO ("Be On The Lookout") – our local rapid alert network designed to provide a "first look" for crucial situations on the water, such as a missing person.

What is Herrington Lake BOLO?

Think of Herrington Lake BOLO as our community's early warning system. In the unfortunate event of a missing person on the lake (whether it's a child, an adult, or someone whose boat has broken down), our BOLO system will alert a network of local volunteers. Our goal is to get "eyes on the water" and initial information gathered swiftly, while professional emergency services are on their way. This immediate, local response can make a critical difference.

How Can You Help? It's Simple!

We're making it easy to contribute to our lake's safety. There are two ways you can get involved:

Want to receive immediate alerts when someone is reported missing on Herrington Lake? This is the fastest way to get involved and make a difference. When an alert goes out, you'll know to Be On The Lookout in your area of the lake, from your dock, or while you're out enjoying the water.

This is simply about getting you on our emergency notification system so you can receive crucial updates quickly.

For those who want to take their commitment a step further, we're building a dedicated team of BOLO "First Look" volunteers. This group will be ready to actively participate in coordinated, preliminary searches (within their comfort and safety limits) while authorities are en route.

If you have specific resources like a boat, kayak, drone, or advanced skills like First Aid/CPR, or just a desire for more formal involvement and training, we'd love to learn more about you! Our comprehensive assessment helps us understand how you can best contribute and ensures we provide you with the right training.
